Hello!

My name is Minda Redburn, and as a professional career development counselor and a life coach, my goal is to help you chart and navigate your unique career path.

Since starting my private practice in 1993, I have worked with over a thousand people at various points in their career lives - recent college graduates to seasoned executives - and the same concerns and desires pop up again and again.

Does this Sound Familiar to You?

-I wonder where I fit!

-What am I really good at?

-Should I hang on to a job that saps my spirit?

-I’m afraid I’m going to get fired!

-I want work that reflects my values.

-Are they any creative jobs?

-How come my job has gone sour?

-How do I get a job in such a tight job market?

-How do I find an organization that I want to work for?

-Is it possible to support myself and enjoy what I do?

There are answers to your questions, and together we can find them.  I am passionate about what I do and grateful to my clients for allowing me to practice the work that I love.  I sincerely desire to assist you in making full use of your own unique gifts.

I’m glad you dropped by my website. I invite you to read it through. Then give me a call so we can explore in person what’s needed for you to have the career you’ve always wanted.

PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH

The strength of my career development approach is an in-depth self-assessment process that helps you create a clear, specific picture of your ideal work.

In addition, I provide personal counseling to help you work through the things that get in the way of your career success and satisfaction.  Career challenges are sometimes a reflection of personal or psychological difficulties, rather than the cause of them.  Deeper issues may be at play in your life that are stopping you from moving forward in your career.

My whole-person approach to career development will help you explore and address any internal or behavioral obstacles to your career fulfillment, and strengthen your self-confidence so you can move forward into focused action.  We'll work together to help you be more effective in your current and future work situations, and as well as help you find ways to manage and deal with difficult relationships with employees, co-workers, and bosses.

As a coach, I also provide structure and accountability to help you stay on track until you reach your goals.  I will teach you practical skills and strategies to explore the job market. Then I’ll help you implement a successful job search. We’ll work together on the nuts and bolts of networking, writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and negotiating salary.  Or you may decide to launch a new business venture.

“I really want to thank you so much.  You have helped me come back to life and get mentally and physically stronger.  I'm excited about what's to come.  I owe you a lot of appreciation.“
     -Marty T., financial services

SELF-DISCOVERY PROCESS

My commitment is to help you uncover and build on the strengths and gifts that already exist inside you. I use a variety of interesting, creative activities and exercises to actively involve you in your own “head-and-heart” self-discovery process.

Powerful Career Assessment Tools:

-Family history to identify career assets and liabilities from your family and early life

-Enneagram personality system to clarify your coping strategies and to employ powerful tools for personal development

-Work history to begin identifying your skill sets and clarifying your criteria for ideal work

-Values mapping to articulate your personal guiding principles for work and life

-Myers-Briggs Expanded Analysis to bring key strengths and stressors into focus

-Strong & Campbell Interest Inventories to identify key career interests and job options

"You helped me understand myself, my goals, and my direction.  I am returning to school to get my Masters degree in Special Education.  It's been a mind opening experience for me.  Thank you for your reflections, your insights, and your good humor."
     -Mario S., Special Education teacher

“White (Redburn) delves into a person’s background. ‘I ask for a family history. I want to see if there are beliefs that might be getting in the way,’ she explained. ‘For instance, I had one person whose experiences taught her that she’d be punished if she got too excited about anything. Obviously that’s not good. I’m looking for influences that are whispering offstage.’”

EXPERIENCE

Tap into my 15 plus years of successful corporate experience, my Masters degree education in Counseling Psychology, and my training as a life coach.  Plus, access my wide network of professional contacts in the Portland-Vancouver area that can help you investigate almost any career option.

Before my own mid-life career transition, I managed training and human resource development functions in a number of local firms, including First Security Bank and Intel. In 1993, I decided to tackle a life-long dream to become a career development counselor so that I could help others so what they love, and love what they do.

My background in the corporate world in the Portland, Oregon-area provides me with “road-tested” insights into the local job market, and how the hiring process really works in local organizations.

"Today I was offered the first position I interviewed for.  It really will incorporate a lot of what I enjoy in my job.  Your advice on being clear about what I want was very helpful!  I wouldn't have even considered that if I hadn't talked to you.  You provided some great resources and taught me the skills I needed to find and pursue meaningful work.  And you supported me during those times of self-doubt.  Thank you for everything, Minda!"
     -Stuart L., school librarian
